To commemorate three years of successful implementation of ‘Universal Health Coverage’ scheme, “Ayushman Bharat Arogya Karnataka” under which primary health care, specified secondary and tertiary health care benefits are provided, DIMHANS, Dharwad held a district level program in association with Suvarna Arogya Trust. The program was presided by Dr. Yashwanth Madinkar, District health and Family Welfare officer, Dr. Mahesh Desai, Director of DIMHANS, Dr. Shanmukha D., Chief Administrative Officer of DIMHANS, Dr. Srinivas Kosgi, Medical Superintendent of DIMHANS, Dr. Shahsi Patil, District Leprosy Officer, and Dr. Sumaiah Sangrekoppa, District Coordinator for Suvarna Arogya Trust. Dr. Yashwanth Madinkar appreciated the “Arogya Mitras” for successfully implementing the scheme, and with whose collective efforts Karnataka toped in setting up health & wellness centres under Ayushman Bharat Scheme. Dr. Mahesh Desai appreciated and thanked our honourable Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi for Ayushman Bharat scheme under which poor people are now able to avail medical care which was previously inaccessible to them due to high cost. He cited several examples of how expensive medical treatments such as joint replacement which was not affordable to the poor are now made available to them. Dr. Srinivas Kosgi also spoke on the usefulness of the scheme for the public, and advised the public to utilise the scheme to the fullest. It was recently reported that Karnataka has been in the forefront of successfully implementing various health care schemes through Suvarna Arogya Suraksha Trust. The success of implementation resulted in 64 % reduction in Out of Pocket Expenditure, reduced mortality rate by 64 % among BPL families and increased access hospital care by 12.3 %.
Certificate of appreciation was given to DIMHANS, SDM college & Hospital, SDM Narayana Hrudalaya, and Vihan heart Care Center, Dharwad, for best coverage in Ayushman Bharat Arogya Karnataka. DIMHANS ha been successfully passing on the benefits of Ayushman Bharat Arogya Karnataka scheme for all inpatient under mental disorders package. DIMHANS is also a centre for enrolling “Ayushman Bharat Arogya Karnataka” card which is mandatory for accessing the scheme benefits. So far DIMHANS has issued about 450 cards, and is encouraging more and more people to enrol and benefit from the scheme. In this regard, public awareness program on the Ayushman Bharat Arogya Karnataka scheme and benefits it offers in healthcare has also been ongoing. Dr. Srinivas Kosgi, Nodal officer for Ayushman Bharat Arogya Karnataka, Dr. Tejasvi T.P., Suvarna Arogya medical coordinator, and Dr. Raghavendra Patil, currently in-charge, are all worked tireless to achieve 100% coverage for all the inpatients of DIMHANS.Under “Ayushman Bharat Arogya Karnataka” scheme each family can benefit about five lakh rupees every year. Patients from below poverty line can avail 100% free treatment under this scheme, where as those from above poverty line can avail up to 30% benefits.
