e-Hospital@NIC Objectives

The e-Hospital project was initiated with the following objectives:

To provide the e-Hospital, e-BloodBank and ORS applications to government hospitals

To provide online patient portal for delivery of citizen centric services like online appointment booking, access to lab reports online and blood availability status

To provide application related technical support to the hospitals through dedicated Call Centre/ Helpdesk.

The e-Hospital project initiated by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) encompasses several objectives aimed at enhancing healthcare services through the effective use of technology. Some of the key objectives of the e-Hospital@NIC project include:

Digitization of Healthcare Processes: The project aims to digitize and streamline various healthcare processes, including patient registration, appointment scheduling, medical record management, prescription generation, and billing. By transitioning from manual to digital systems, it seeks to improve efficiency and reduce paperwork.

Seamless Information Exchange: The e-Hospital project intends to establish a centralized information system that enables seamless exchange of healthcare information between hospitals, healthcare professionals, and patients. This facilitates the availability of patient data and medical records to authorized personnel, leading to better coordination and continuity of care.

Improved Accessibility and Convenience: One of the objectives of the e-Hospital project is to enhance accessibility and convenience for citizens seeking healthcare services. Online registration and appointment systems, along with telemedicine services, enable individuals to access healthcare more easily, regardless of their geographical location.

Enhanced Data Management and Security: The project emphasizes the importance of secure and efficient data management. By digitizing health records and implementing robust data security measures, it aims to protect patient information and ensure its confidentiality. Effective data management also enables quick retrieval of medical history and facilitates better decision-making by healthcare professionals.

Efficient Prescription and Pharmacy Management: The e-Hospital project focuses on improving prescription and pharmacy management systems. It aims to digitize the prescription process, ensuring accurate and legible prescriptions, and integrating pharmacy services for online medicine orders and stock management.

Integration of Telemedicine Services: Telemedicine plays a significant role in the project's objectives. By integrating telemedicine services, the e-Hospital project aims to overcome geographical barriers, enabling remote consultations between doctors and patients. This ensures timely access to medical advice and reduces the need for physical visits, especially for patients in remote areas.

Data Analytics and Reporting: The project seeks to leverage data analytics to generate insights, monitor healthcare trends, and facilitate evidence-based decision-making. By analyzing healthcare data, it aims to identify areas for improvement, optimize resource allocation, and enhance the overall quality of healthcare services.

Standardization and Interoperability: The e-Hospital@NIC project emphasizes the need for standardization and interoperability across different healthcare systems and institutions. By promoting uniform data formats and interoperable systems, it aims to enable seamless information exchange and collaboration among various stakeholders in the healthcare ecosystem.

Overall, the e-Hospital@NIC project aims to leverage technology to transform healthcare service delivery, making it more accessible, efficient, and patient-centric. By achieving its objectives, the project strives to enhance the overall healthcare experience for citizens and improve the quality of care provided by healthcare institutions.
