DIMHANS Day-care and Psychiatric Rehabilitation Centre is located in Bendre block which was inaugurated in November 2020. Day-care and psychiatric rehabilitation services was established to help persons with chronic and disabling mental disorders to return to an optimal level of functioning and to achieve their life goals. The team working in day-care and rehabilitation centre consist of psychiatrists, psychiatric social workers, clinical psychologists, psychiatric nursing as well as skilled vocational trainers. Dr. Manjunath B is the head of the unit. The team not only promote recovery, but go beyond the alleviation of symptoms of psychiatric disorders, and help the disabled individuals to develop the emotional, social and intellectual skills needed to live, learn and work in the community with the least amount of professional support.The interventions are tailored for each individual and attempts to integrate the patients with mainstream society and improve quality of life for both the persons with psychiatric disorder and their families.  The centre provides rehabilitation services in various settings. Patients attending OPD services, who are in need of rehabilitation can attend the day-care for vocational and skills training. Inpatients needing activity scheduling or vocational and skills training are sent to the rehabilitation centre at prescribed hours.  A range of vocational sections, arts and recreation facilities are available for clients to choose from. Nominal incentives are provided for clients attending day-care. Vocational training course such as tailoring, baking, handicrafts, mat making, etc are available. Patients are also engaged in recreational activities, physical exercises and yoga.
